Early Day Motion:
Southwark: The Movie The House welcomes Southwark: The movie which aims to raise money for pioneering research and highlight the plight of 4-year-old Jordan Harris who has the slow progressing fatal brain disease Late Infantile Battens; further notes that Southwark: The Movie will be released in cinemas across Southwark from 13th October; and calls upon members of this House and members of the public to attend screenings of the movie. Simon Hughes MP states: “The money raised from this appeal will be given to vital research that will go towards stopping families being put through the heartbreak that Jordan's family are going through”. “Southwark: The Movie will not only help raise money for this wonderful project and raise the profile of this fatal disease, but will also give Jordan a fighting chance of survival, I hope the people of Southwark will dig deep, enjoy the film and know their generosity will be going to such a worthwhile cause.” Also, parliamentary questions are put to the Secretary of State for health about current funding for Batten's disease and gene therapy. |
